Nursing performance in self appraisal was measured using a modified Schwirian¢¥s six-D scale of nursing performance (1978) before and after 2 weeks of pregraduate clinical experience. Nursing performance in the preceptorial appraisal was measured after 2 weeks of pregraduate clinical experience.

The results can be summarized as follows;

In self appraisal, the quality of the nursing students¢¥ performance of in terms of planing ,end evaluation increased significantly in the experimental group compared with the control group ( p < 0.U5 ) after completion of 2 weeks of pregraduate clinical experience < table 5>. 2. In self appraisal, the perceived adequacy of preparation for nursing performance increased for three dimensions significantly in the experimental group compared with the control group after completion of 2 weeks of pregraduate clinical experieice-plan/evaluation(p<0.05), Interpersonal relationship/communication ( p < 0.1), total (p<0.1) < table 5>.
In self appraisal, no significant difference in terms of frequency of their performance was shown between the experimental group and the control group after completion of 2 weeks of pregraduate clinical experience < table 5 >.
4. In preceptorial appraisal, the quality of the nursing students¢¥ performance of in terms of nursing skill increased significantly (p < 0.1) in the experimental group compared with the control group after completion of 2 weeks of pregraduate clinical experience < table 6>.

The results of this study suggests the possibility of using a preceptorship program to improve nursing students¢¥ clinical performance.
